I received a refund through my credit card this week. It took months of threats including filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Branch but I got the money back.
Peter at Buytopia knows that the contract is between Buytopia and the customer and that's why he will give you a refund in the end.
The Consumer Protection Branch staff are very much aware of this issue. If you want to file a complaint they will become involved but you first need to send Buytopia a demand letter.
Here is a link to the Consumer Protection Branch's complaint process:
I have never experienced such bad customer service ever! Today I was told to "GET LOST" over the phone while trying to place an order. I have been trying to use my vouchers since February and have received multiple excuses. A trip to the store was a waste as they were just as rude. I suggest you contact the voucher company and request a refund as that is what I am going to do.
It's unfortunate the deal situation happened as it did, I know how good the meat is from them and will continue to shop there when they reopen. The quality is tops and very friendly staff.
I'm waiting for them to reopen........hope it's soon.
This is a horrible place, all I get is frustration and bad service.
Reading what others say, I can only think that the people who wrote good reviews must be the owners themselves.
NO WAY this place can ever be classified as friendly staff.
We are currently looking into filing a complaint with the Ministry of consumer service.
I don't even know where to begin. I will start by saying that the coupons that I had were not honored and I will call all of this "FRAUD." I spoke to the police and they confirmed that we were correct. They inflated their prices, restricted the voucher customers to only come in Tuesday-Friday (when they're usually sold out of product by noon) and are SO RUDE to anyone who comes in. In the past few months, every time I come in there are a few separate people arguing with the staff over ridiculous voucher rules and restrictions that no one knows about and that aren't printed on the voucher, but apparently are online (I checked - that's not 100% accurate, plus they change their rules every day to match their ineptness).
These guys ran back-to-back deals, each underselling the last, on nearly all of the deal sites. That's slimy already, but then they inflated their prices by up to 30%, restricted the voucher customers to only come in Tuesday-Friday (when they're usually sold out of product by noon) and are SO RUDE to anyone who comes in. It's across the street from my house, so I usually pop in to see what's there. In the past few months, every time I come in there are a few separate people arguing with the staff over ridiculous voucher rules and restrictions that no one knows about and that aren't printed on the voucher, but apparently are online (I checked - that's not 100% accurate). The other day I walked by at 1215pm and there were a few people standing outside - the staff was inside cleaning and the doors were locked. The people outside knocked on the door (they didn't know they closed at noon for an hour to clean - as it wasn't posted anywhere) and instead of explain, the staff totally ignored them. I thought it was weird (and terrible) at the time, but I didn't experience the awfulness of this business until today.
I came in, and as I had already used my voucher, I had a receipt with my balance on it, which they do accept on weekends. There was about 300% more selection than there is on weekdays for the voucher customers, and I chose a few things. When I went to pay, I was told a new policy said I couldn't use the receipt. At this point, a couple over heard and cut in to our conversation.
"But we came yesterday with our voucher and you told us to come back today. We drove a long way," they said to the staff member. "Well it changed since I left last night," he replied. AND WALKED AWAY.
At this point I started asking to talk to the owner, who over heard and made himself busy chatting up a few guys who were already on their way out. When it was obvious I was waiting, he snapped.
"This is exactly why we don't take vouchers on weekends. I'm busy," he said to me angrily, without hearing a word I had to say.
This guy has obviously bitten off more than he can chew. His eyes on the one day profits of 600,000$ from Dealfind alone were obigger than his stomach. And I'm sure more metaphors exist for this terrible business which has in turn caused both consumers and the legitimate deal companies a huge headache. He's shot himself in the foot and such terrible service won't go unnoticed...especially with the Friendly Butcher so close nearby.
I used to shop here, but must say I have always preferred the service and quality at the healthy butcher. This deal is a perfect example of if it seems too good to be true then.... My attempt to contact them was not possible since the phone is off the hook. A drive to their store was a disappointment from the moment we entered. There is hardly any product, no prices displayed and nothing but grumbling commentary from the proprietor as he served a coupon customer. We were turned away by his lets make new rules as we go, telling us he would not serve us today and that we should have checked his website. What he deserves is what he is getting. Buyer beware!
To lentis who does not smell a fish with this butcher should understand a business can only sell $400 worth of meat for $100 if their mark up is 400%. This was their third round on the voucher sites and had already broken the record on the second. The butchers are not in business to loss. Yes there are butchers out there that charge huge amounts for their cuts, but that does not mean what The Butchers have done is right. They have sold 3 million dollars worth of vouchers and there product has gone down hill so they can maximise they profit. I have had their steak and it was OK and this was before the vouchers. I still would prefer USDA Prime and this whole organic thing is questionable. Sorry if I don't prefer Canadian but I have been around the world and Argentina has better beef.
I used to love this shop -- they took pride in what they were selling, the product was excellent and the service was really good. Unfortunately, ever since they starting selling deal vouchers, this shop has seriously deteriorated. It is a zoo when you walk in they are closed when they are normally open and they never have any stock left other than meats I would not normally purchase. They have also been somewhat rude at certain times and never answer their phone. This business has lost sight of what they are trying to accomplish -- increasing their client base. If anything, they will increase it temporarily and then lose most clients --- most importantly the loyal clients who shopped there long before the vouchers.
I purchased a voucher too. and I am going to defend the shop. His prices are about double to triple what were used to paying at wall mart but you get what you pay for. Organic meat. I purchased over 400 dollars for my Birthday BBQ. Each steak I got wighted at 1.5 pounds with a price of $28. If you want organic you need to pay more. If you want Kosher you need to pay more. its not a scam but rather your just not used to paying for good quality. The Shop is pricey but its not a scam. If I had a boucher shop I can charge you $199/Ib theirs nothing unethical about that. In newyork theres places that you pay $5000 a burger. your ruining the butchers reputation because his pork tenderloin is not 5.99/Ib but rather 18.99/Ib. for all I know you could be the competitor writing a bad review. I purchased 20 vouchers for $100($400) which is $8000 worth of meat.
My review friendly service, quick top quality meat. a little pricey but you get what you pay for.
It's unfortunate, but the voucher deal is a SCAM. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are no prices on display and they are asking $18.99/lb for pork tenderloin. What a joke.
Meat & Fish or Marlins Meat & Fish
»Can not fill the vouchers because they have not paid there suppliers.
I was a victim of the scam like so many other.
»I had bought two coupons from Buytopia.

»I'm just pissed off .
»I drove from Wasaga beach to use my voucher to be told I had to come at a certain time..WTF

The meat wasn't so great and they are certainly running a scam - buyer beware....give your money to someone else more honest!
